One advantage to creating an Adobe InDesign Book from multiple project files is that one file can be used to harmonize Swatches, Paragraph Styles, and Master Pages throughout all the book files. To synchronize your book files, follow these four steps.

  1. After adding files to the book, go to the Book Panel and click in the empty space to the right of the file you wish to make the synchronization source so that an icon appears.Book Panel
  2. To define the synchronization options, click the Book Panel menu and select Synchronize Options.Book Panel Menu
  3. In the dialog box, check the attributes you wish to synchronize and click OK.Synchronize Options Dialog Box
  4. To synchronize all the files in the book, click in the empty space at the bottom of the Book Panel to deselect all the files. To synchronize only some of the files, select the source file and then Ctrl-click (PC) / Command-click (Mac) the files to synchronize.
