There are various kinds of color swatches that can be created in Adobe InDesign; process color, spot color, mixed ink, tint, and gradient. In this example we'll create a process color swatch.
- To open the Swatches Panel, go to the Window menu, then to Color, and select Swatches.

- Click the Swatches Panel menu and select New Color Swatch.

- To give the swatch a significant name, uncheck Name with Color Value, then enter a name in the field above. Use the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black sliders to define the color. To continue creating more swatches, click the Add button. Otherwise, click OK to close the dialog box.
