See Adobe InDesign: Tips and Tricks for similar articles.
Adobe InDesign's Find/Change function can be used not only for changing text content, but also for applying formatting to specific text content. In this example, small caps with a different text color will be applied to a company name that appears throughout the body of the text.
- From the Edit menu, select Find/Change.

- Making sure the Text tab is active, enter the company name in the Find what field and delete any content in the Change to field. Click the Search menu to set the search criteria, then click the More Options button at the right, if necessary, to expand the dialog box.

- The format sections in the dialog box are now visible. Click the Specify button next to the Change Format field.

- In the dialog box that opens, go to the list on the left and click Basic Character Formats, then go to the Case menu and select Small Caps.

- Go back to the list at the left and click on Character Color, then select a new text fill color. Click OK to close the dialog box and return to Find/Change.

- The changes specified are now listed under Change Format. Click the Find Next button, then click whichever of the Change option buttons you prefer to apply the formatting to the text in the layout.
