How to Create Character-Specific Styles in Microsoft Word

Follow these three steps to create a character-specific style in Microsoft Word.
This feature works the same in all modern versions of Microsoft Word: 2010, 2013, and 2016.
- Display the Styles task pane by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S.

- Select the New Style button.

- Type a name in the Name text box, then from the Style Type drop-down list, select Character. Set options for the new style and click OK.
