When pasting paragraph text into Photoshop, the text often ends up on a single line extending beyond the width of the image, like this:

Text extends beyond horizontal borders.

Photoshop doesn’t make reshaping the text super intuitive, but, like many things, it’s not hard once you know how:

  1. In the Tools panel, make sure the Horizontal Type Tool is not selected. I usually do this by clicking on the Move Tool.Photoshop Move Tool
  2. In the Layers panel, right-click on the text layer and select Convert to Paragraph Text.

  3. To reshape the paragraph text, double-click on the T icon in the text layer:

  4. If your text is really long, the boundaries of the paragraph text box may go off the screen. In this case, you can shrink the image by pressing Ctrl + until you can see the boundaries of the paragraph text:

  5. Now you can just grab the bottom-right boundary and reshape the box and then zoom in using Ctrl + +.
