Course Overview
Move from basic administration to the advanced skills needed to run RHEL 10 systems in production on your own. By the end of the training, you'll be able to automate routine work with scripts, keep systems secure, manage storage that can grow as needs change, bring a server back when it won't boot, control network traffic with a firewall, and run applications in containers.
Most of the class is hands-on, with 25+ labs on live RHEL 10 systems. You'll start by automating tasks, then move into security, network-based logins, and storage. From there, you'll learn to troubleshoot startup problems, lock down network access, deploy containers, and automate new installations.
This course covers the second half of the RHCSA (EX200) exam objectives and ends with a full review mapped to the exam, so you leave knowing where you stand. You should have completed Red Hat Enterprise Linux System Administration I or have equivalent experience with the Linux command line, file management, and user administration.
Course Benefits
- Automate repetitive tasks by writing Bash scripts with variables, conditionals, loops, and exit status checks.
- Find exactly the text you're looking for by building regular expressions and using them with grep.
- Schedule one-time and recurring jobs with at, cron, anacron, and systemd timers.
- Control which processes get system resources first with nice, renice, and ionice, and watch system activity with ps and top.
- Give specific users and groups access to files beyond what standard permissions allow by using access control lists.
- Protect files and services with SELinux by managing contexts, booleans, and policies.
- Let users log in with central network accounts by connecting systems to LDAP through authselect and SSSD.
- Add disks, create partitions, and build ext4 and XFS filesystems.
- Set up flexible storage with LVM, including snapshots and thin provisioning.
- Mount NFS shares and configure autofs so network storage connects only when it's needed.
- Get a system that won't start back up by working with GRUB2, systemd targets, and root password recovery.
- Control network traffic with nftables and firewalld zones, services, and rich rules.
- Run applications in containers with Podman, build images from Containerfiles, and run rootless containers as services.
- Install RHEL with Anaconda and automate repeat installations with Kickstart.
