Instructional Design Training (ID101)
Welcome to the Instructional Design Training course, an in-depth program crafted to equip your team with the knowledge and skills needed to design effective and engaging learning experiences. Whether you are a company looking to train multiple employees or an individual seeking to upskill, this course promises to enhance your understanding of instructional design principles and methodologies.
We kick off the course with an exploration of What Is Instructional Design?. Here, you’ll gain a foundational understanding of design, including key philosophies such as CIP, situational learning, and connectivism. You'll also encounter various models like Kemp, Gagne, Bloom’s Taxonomy, and ADDIE, each with its unique approach to structuring instructional content. The lesson also touches on the role of the instructional designer and the importance of collaborating with clients, subject-matter experts (SMEs), and additional resources to create comprehensive learning solutions.
The next section, Analyzing and Objective Setting, guides you through the essential steps of goal analysis, needs assessment, and task analysis. You’ll learn to determine instructional needs, set and evaluate goals, and utilize data-gathering methods. The lesson also covers the significance of analyzing learners, including their characteristics and learning environments, to tailor your instructional design effectively. Finally, you’ll understand how to develop clear objectives that align with your goals.
In Learning Design Concepts, we'll cover organizing content, creating a design plan, and applying standard sequencing models like known to unknown and simple to complex. The lesson also introduces you to various instructional strategies, from different activity types to effective learning environments. You’ll explore multiple delivery formats such as instructor-led training (ILT), self-paced learning, virtual classroom learning, and blended learning. Additionally, the lesson emphasizes the importance of visual design, using multimedia, animations, and interactions to create engaging content.
The course continues with Developing and Implementing the Learning, which covers cognitive load, behaviorism, and memory processes. This lesson highlights the importance of a facilitator plan and outlines how to prepare both trainers and learners for successful implementation. It will address learning support mechanisms and provide guidelines on following up post-training to ensure effective knowledge retention and application.
Lastly, the course concludes with Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Learning. You’ll understand the importance of evaluation through tools that assess knowledge, skills, behavior, and attitude. The lesson introduces Kirkpatrick’s Four Levels of Assessment—reaction, learning, behavior, and results—and differentiates between formative and summative evaluations. You’ll also learn the significance of measuring return on investment (ROI) and strategies for quantifying the success of your instructional programs.
By the end of this course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of instructional design that enables you to create, implement, and evaluate effective training programs. You’ll be well-equipped to enhance your company's training efforts, ensuring a high level of learning effectiveness and improved performance across your workforce.
