Adding Page and Section Breaks

Duration: 10 to 20 minutes.

In this exercise, you will add page breaks and section breaks to a document and take a short quiz.

  1. Working with Page Breaks
    1. Open Plants in my yard - Intermediate2.docx. Note that all section and page breaks have been removed from the document.
    2. Add breaks such that:
      1. Each category of plants (trees, perennials, gound covers) can be laid out and formatted independently.
      2. Each plant starts on a new page.
    3. Save the document.
  2. Circle the appropriate answer to the following statements and questions:
    1. Adding page breaks enables you to apply different headers before and after the break.

  1. Working with Page Breaks
    1. Place your cursor before the Heading 1 text "PERENNIALS" and on the PAGE LAYOUT tab in the Page Setup group, click Breaks, Section Breaks > Next Page: Break Options
    2. Repeat the above for "Ground Covers".
    3. Place your cursor before the Heading 2 text "Lilac" and on the PAGE LAYOUT tab in the Page Setup group, click Breaks, Page: Break Options
    4. Repeat the above for all plants except those that are the first in their section.
