To learn how to verify the Apache Tomcat server operation in a Windows environment, follow these four steps:

  1. Start the Tomcat server.
  2. Start your browser if it is not already running.
  3. In the address area of the browser, type http://localhost:8080 and submit that address to the browser.
  4. The Tomcat welcome page will display:
    Tomcat welcome page
    The Tomcat server is operational.
