How to Set Up for Advanced Angular Programming

Setting up for our Advanced Angular Programming course will take a little time. Please follow these instructions carefully.

Technical Requirements

  1. Windows OS: Windows 7 / 10, Windows Server 2012
  2. 4GB RAM minimum
  3. 20 GB in the hard disk
  4. Dual Core CPU or better 64 bits
  5. Internet connection
  6. Latest Visual Studio Code
  7. Nodejs (software provided as part of the courseware)
  8. Most recent version of Google Chrome (Download)

Class Files

  1. If the class files are not available in your portal, then Webucator will provide them to you a week before class.
  2. Make sure the account that you are using to install the software has administrative privileges and the student using this machine will have the same rights.

Installing Class Files

  1. Download the class file named "WA2776_REL_1_0.zip".
  2. Extract the ZIP file to C:\
  3. Review that the following folders were created:
    1. C:\LabFiles\
    2. C:\Software\
  4. Review that the following file was created:
    1. C:\Software\node-v10.13.0-x64.msi
  5. Make sure the C:\Software and C:\LabFiles folders are writable by the students. If they are read-only then the software won't work and students will have problems during the labs.
  6. Download the class file named "WA2777-REL_1_0-Supporting.zip".
  7. Extract the just downloaded file in C:\. You will be requested to overwrite files and folders, which you should do.

Installing Node.js 10.13.0

  • Open C:\Software\
  • Double click on node-v10.13.0-x64.msi to begin installation.
  • In the Welcome page, click Next.
  • Check I accept the terms... and click Next.
  • Accept default destination folder and click Next.
  • Accept default Custom Setup selection and click Next.
  • Do not check the check-box on the Tools for Native Modules dialog. Click Next.
  • Click Install.
  • A popup window may open asking to install the software. Click Yes to continue.
  • Click Finish.
  • Installation verification of Node.js

  • Open a command prompt window.
  • Enter the command: node --version
  • Make sure that you see 10.13.0 as the output.
  • Close all.
  • Installing Visual Studio Code

  • Download and install the latest VScode for Windows (stable build installer).
  • Run the downloaded installer to begin the installation.
  • Click Next on the welcome screen.
  • Check I accept the agreement... and click Next.
  • Leave the default installation location and click Next.
  • Leave the default start menu folder and click Next.
  • Put a check mark on all items under Additional Tasks and click Next.
  • Now click Install.
  • Give it some time to install.
  • When it is complete, uncheck Launch Visual Studio Code and click Finish.
  • Verification of VScode

  • Launch Visual Studio Code using the shortcut on the desktop.
  • Verify Visual Studio Code opens and that you see the Welcome screen.
  • You may see a message to enable Java(tm) Plug-In. If so. click Enable.
  • You may see a message regarding Git. If so, click Don't show again.
  • Close all windows.
  • Congratulations

    You have successfully installed the software for this course!
