How to Make Money from a Blog

In Brief...

Making money by blogging is something many people think about. While blogging will not make most bloggers rich, it can help generate a substantial income. There are many ways to put blogging to use as a money making enterprise, all of which require a little thought and work on the part of the blogger.

Instructions

  1. Pay Per Click – Pay Per Click, sometimes called Cost Per Click, is one of the more common ways bloggers earn income from their blog sites. Using a program from networks like Google AdSense, Chitika, or Infolinks, bloggers place banner ads on their sites. The ad generating program finds ads that relate to the content on the blog, and charges the company a fee whenever the ad is clicked. That fee is shared with the blogger on whose site the ad is placed.
  2. Private Advertising – It is also possible to sell private ads, without using networks like the ones mentioned previously. Ad rates are set by the blogger, not generated by clicks. Bloggers can also charge for content promoting certain products, including links to the product website.
  3. Selling Content – If the blogger has content that is better served in a longer format, he or she can create and sell ebooks, online courses, or workshops. Products can be introduced in the blog topics with links to the sales page.
  4. Memberships – Depending on the content offered, it is possible to offer memberships or subscriptions to portions of the blog site that contains more detailed or proprietary information. Sections of the blog site can be set up with passwords that subscribers use to gain access to those pages.
