How to Import a File in Microsoft PowerPoint

In Brief...

You can import a file into PowerPoint, including text files.

This feature works the same in all modern versions of Microsoft PowerPoint: 2010, 2013, and 2016.

Instructions

  1. From the File menu, select Open.
    Select Open

  2. Select where the file is located, and in the Open dialog box, select the file and click Open. Select the drop-down arrow, if necessary, to show all file formats.
    Select File Location

  3. The file is displayed in PowerPoint.
