How to Create an SWF File from Adobe InDesign

Animations and interactive objects can be added to InDesign layouts, which can then be exported as Flash Player SWF files. The following three steps show how to create an SWF file from Adobe InDesign.

This feature works the same in Adobe InDesign CS5, CS6, and CC versions.

  1. Go to the File menu and select Export.
    Export Command in File Menu

  2. Choose a location for the file, then click the Save As Type menu and select Flash Player (SWF). Click Save.
    Export Dialog Box

  3. Check the Generate HTML File check box. To view the file in a browser, also check View SWF after Exporting. Set Interactivity and Media to Include All. Select any desired Page Transitions options and click OK.
    Export SWF Dialog Box
