How to Choose Paper Size in Microsoft Word

The paper size for Microsoft Word documents can be set for the whole document or for individual sections of documents. Follow the steps below to choose the desired paper size.

This feature works the same in all modern versions of Microsoft Word: 2010, 2013, and 2016.

Instructions

To change the paper size for a section of your Word document:

  1. On the Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Size.
    Click Size in Page Setup

  2. Select the paper size of your choice.
    Select Paper Size

To change the paper size for your whole document:

  1. On the Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Size.
    Click Size in Page Setup

  2. Select More Paper Sizes.
    Select More Paper Sizes

  3. In the Page Setup dialog box, choose a paper size and for Apply to, select Whole document.
    Select Paper Size and Whole Document
  4. Click OK.
