Class Overview

This VMware training class covers topics beyond Installation and Configuration. This class will provide students with CLI experience and tools that will help them get under the hood of ESX and troubleshoot more effectively. The class uses both CLI and GUI tools to troubleshoot and learn about the ESX environment. This class is approximately 50% lab and 50% lecture. The final day of class is completely hands on.

    1. Install ESX unattended
      1. vSwitch for Production VM
      2. VMKernal for NFS and iSCSI
      3. 2nd Service Console for management
      4. NFS storage
      5. iSCSI storage
      6. Add user and grant shell access
      7. Allow root to use SSH
    2. Using VIC
      1. Configure vMotion on SC port
      2. Verify correct appliction of script
    3. Virtual Center installation and configuration
      1. Create VM
      2. Install Virtual Center on the VM
      3. Create VM
      4. Clone VM to template
      5. Deploy VM from template
      6. Configure HA and DRS
      7. Test Vmotion
      8. Test DRS
      9. Test HA
    4. Written test
    5. Final lab for exam
