Introduction to Visual Basic 2008 Training - 4 to 5 days

In this Visual Basic 2008 training course, students use Visual Studio 2008 to explore the Visual Basic 2008 language. The course starts with a quick overview of the .NET platform, examining assemblies, Microsoft Intermediate Language, Visual Studio profiles, XML comments, IntelliSense, and debugging. From there, you will learn all the Visual Basic 2008 language features that you must internalize in order to create full-featured Web or Windows applications that make best use of the .NET 3.5 platform.

You will learn about data types, variables, and operators, along with all the important flow control structures. You'll work through several examples demonstrating the power of the .NET 3.5 Framework, and dig into creating and consuming your own classes and objects. The course moves on to working with data structures, such as arrays and collection classes, before finishing up with discussions of generics, handling exceptions and working with delegates and events. By the end of this course, you will understand the important basic concepts that will allow you to start creating .NET applications.

Visual Basic 2008 Training for Object-Oriented Programmers - 2 days

Visual Basic 2008 for Object-Oriented Programmers is designed to bring experienced programmers quickly up to speed on the Visual Basic language

The Visual Basic 2008 training course concisely covers the essentials of .NET programming using Microsoft's Visual Basic .NET programming language. It starts with a brief chapter, ".NET: What You Need to Know," which gets you up and running in the .NET environment with a minimum of fuss. The next two chapters cover Visual Basic language essentials and object-oriented programming in Visual Basic 2008. The next chapter discusses how Visual Basic relates to the .NET Framework. The following chapter covers delegates and events. The course includes a succinct introduction to creating GUI programs using Windows Forms. The course concludes with a chapter covering the new features in Visual Basic 2008.

MOC 2559 - Introduction to Visual Basic .NET Programming with Microsoft .NET - 5 days

This Visual Basic training class provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop applications in Microsoft Visual Basic .NET for the Microsoft .NET platform. The course focuses on user interfaces, program structure, language syntax, and implementation details.

This is the first class in the Visual Basic .NET curriculum and will serve as the entry point for other .NET classes.

Windows Applications with Visual Basic 2008 Training - 5 days

Visual Studio 2008 adds a large set of new functionality for the Visual Studio developer. From new language features, including LINQ (Language Integrated Query), to new client-side data support, Visual Studio 2008 and the .NET Framework 3.5 make it easier than ever to create robust, enterprise-level applications. This Visual Basic 2008 Windows Applications training course begins with the basics. Students will become familiar with Windows Forms and Windows Forms controls and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). You will learn how to access data using ADO.NET, how to take advantage of data binding features, and you will explore the range of controls and components provided by Visual Studio. You will also learn how to build solid applications using structured exception handling, how to use the Visual Studio debugging features, how to use MenuStrip and ToolStrip controls, and how to add unprecedented flexibility to your user interfaces using the container controls.

This Windows Forms training class provides students with the skills required to build Microsoft Windows Forms applications using the Microsoft .NET Framework and Visual Basic .NET. This class will cover the major topics for Windows client application programming on the .NET Framework including Windows Forms, GDI+, simple data access, interoperating with unmanaged code, threading and asynchronous programming issues, simple remoting, Web access, Web Services consumption, debugging, security, and deployment issues for desktop applications.
