Technical Requirements

Operating System Options

  1. PC running Windows 2000 or XP.
  2. PC running Linux.

MySQL Community Edition (5.0 or later)

NOTE: MySQL will be installed as a lab. While one of the labs consists of downloading MySQL, you may wish to download the Community Edition (5.0 or later) archive into a shared area ahead of time.

Class Files

  1. Download the class files.
  • For Windows, extract the mysql-1.1.1SF.zip file into the C:\ directory. This will place files underthe C:\mysql directory. Either Winzip or the JAR utility, from the JSE JDK, can be used touncompress the files.

  • For Linux, extract the mysql-1.1.1SF.zip file into the home directory. This will place files under the mysql directory in your home directory. Either ZIP or the JAR utility, from the JSE JDK, can be used to uncompress the files.
