Hardware Requirements

  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 900 MB of available space required on system drive and 8 GB of available space required on installation drive.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express

  1. Download
  2. Follow these steps:
    1. select the appropriate language and installation package for your system, (64 bit or 32 bit) and click Download.
    2. In the File Download - Security Warning box, click Run.
    3. In he File Download - Security Warning wizard click Run again.
    4. In the User Account Control wizard click Continue.
    5. In the SQL Server Installation Center box click Installation.
    6. On the Installation page, click New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation.
    7. On the Setup Support Rules page of the SQL Server 2008 Setup, click Show details and then click OK.
    8. On the Setup Support Files page of the SQL Server 2008 Setup, click Install.
    9. On the Setup Support Rules page, click Show details and then click Next.
    10. On the Product Key page, click Next.
    11. On the License Terms page, review the terms of the license agreement and click the I accept the license terms box and then click Next.
    12. On the Features Selection page, click the Database Engine Services box and then click Next.
    13. On the Instance Configuration page, click the Default instance button and click Next.
    14. On the Disk Space Requirements page, review the disk usage and click Next.
    15. On the Server Configuration page, enter a user account for the SQL Server Database Engine in the Account Name field and then click Next.
    16. On the Account Provisioning tab of the Database Engine Configuration page, choose the authentication mode that you require, and enter a user account in the Specify SQL Server Administrators field. If you want to use the current user account, click Add Current Account and click Next.
    17. On the Error and Usage Report page, review the options and click Next.
    18. On the Installation Rules page, review the status of the rules and click Next.
    19. On the Ready to Install page, click Install
    20. On the Complete page, click Close
