In this Visual Basic 2008 training course, students use Visual Studio 2008 to explore the Visual Basic 2008 language. The course starts with a quick overview of the .NET platform, examining assemblies, Microsoft Intermediate Language, Visual Studio profiles, XML comments, IntelliSense, and debugging. From there, you will learn all the Visual Basic 2008 language features that you must internalize in order to create full-featured Web or Windows applications that make best use of the .NET 3.5 platform.
Visual Studio 2008 adds a large set of new functionality for the Visual Basic developer. From new language features, including LINQ (Language Integrated Query) to new client-side data support, Visual Studio 2008 and the .NET Framework 3.5 make it easier than ever to create robust, enterprise-level applications. This Visual Studio 2008 course, including full written courseware, demonstrations, and lab exercises, introduces the most important new features in Visual Studio 2008 for experienced Visual Basic developers.
In this Visual Basic .NET training course, students use Visual Studio .NET 2005 to learn the Visual Basic .NET language. The course starts with a quick overview of the .NET platform, examining assemblies, Microsoft Intermediate Language, Visual Studio profiles, XML comments, IntelliSense, and debugging. From there, you will learn the Visual Basic .NET language features to create full-featured Web or Windows applications that make best use of the .NET platform. You will learn about data types, variables, and operators, along with all the important flow control structures. You will work through several examples demonstrating the power of the .NET Framework, and dig into creating and consuming your own classes and objects. Finally, the course moves on to working with data structures, such as arrays and collection classes, before finishing up with discussions of generics (see note at bottom), handling exceptions and working with delegates and events (see note at bottom). By the end of this Visual Basic .NET training course, you will understand the important concepts that will allow you to start creating .NET applications.
The .NET 3.5 Framework SDK includes many updates to the C# and Visual Basic programming languages. In this LINQ training course, students will dive into the current Community Technology Preview (CTP) and explore these new programming constructs first hand. Once the core language features have been examined, the remainder of the course will examine LINQ (Language Integrated Query) and the core APIs which represent it: LINQ over Objects, LINQ to SQL and LINQ to XML.
